This is the story of Karl Barta, a shy, young doctor of philosophy who is also a painter and art historian. On the day Karl loses his job in the National Gallery he meets Tereza under bizarre circumstances. She is beautiful, lively and insane. The two fall deeply in love and careen through a wonderfully adventurous passion which is complicated by Karl’s mother who is obsessed with yoga, his individualist father and a young man named Igor who has suicidal tendencies. A film based on the original screenplay and book of the same name by Jaroslav Papousek.
